My favourite city is Davao because the people are so friendly and my favourite beach resort is Paradise beach near the city of Davao. A short boat ride in one of those traditional looking motor boats will bring you to the island.

There are a number of reasons why I think this is a fantastic place, I will list these below,

• Beach is nice and clean, nicer than Boracay, cleaner than Boracay.
• The island is very quiet, there is no crazy nightlife like Boracay, this is more of what I would term a Sunday family place.
• There are water sports on the island, and are cheaper than European destinations but I can not say that they are cheap, there is jet skis too, and rowing boats.
• Table tennis and billards are available too, the last time I played table tennis there it was 60 peso per hour.
• A bird sanctuary is also on paradise island good for the kids to view, but of course I found this interesting.
• The food is really good on the island, especially the seafood, I would recommend the seafood skewers, the cheese burger is alright, chips are nice,shanghai rice are some things I had, the food is expensive compared to the main city of Davao but still is very cheap compared to European prices.From the picture above you can see that the restuarant on Paridise Island is on the Beach front, you can move your chair out and let the sea lap at your feet when eating.
• The atmosphere is nice and quiet for a peaceful relaxing time.

Transport and Accommodaiton on Samal Island

I never stayed the night on Paradise Island cause my girlfriend was not there, the main resort has rooms starting at around 2000 peso , but the accommodation looks great, and I hear that some accommodation can be very reasonably priced, hmm cant give you an exact figure, I think around 700 to 1000 peso.

By the way if your going on a day trip (boat is 14 peso), the last boat leaves the island at paradise beach around 17.30, if you miss that you can get a motorbike ride to the port ,were you can get a transport bus that will bring you to the city of Davao on one of those travel barge looking boats.  I am not sure on the times though.
