Today, April 22, 2009, we celebrate the Earth Day. The whole world is united to preserve our mother nature from dying. Earth Day was started in Washington in 1970 or thirty nine years ago, it was former senator Gaylord Nelson who made the historic announcement about nationwide environment conservation.

In unity of Earth Day, Philippines is also one of the many counties worldwide celebrated it. Its province, municipalities and even barangays of thePhilippines had programs about nature’s awareness on how to be a good steward of this world. There was a motorcade of electric jeepneys roaming around Metro Manila. This is to encourage people to use vehicles powered by engines that don’t use fossil fuels that will make the air become polluted and can contribute to global warming. ABS-CBN had advocated also on the preservation of Ilog Pasig. Philippines celebrities had their own unique ways of campaigning in the preservation of the endangered Earth.

Each one of us has a role to portray in conserving our planet. It is not too late to save our planet Earth from being destroyed. If each one of us knows how to take care of our environment by having a proper waste disposal, recycle and reuse what we have, we can make our planet a better place to live. The Earth is a place where we live, so if nobody takes good care of it, who else could do? If we abuse our environment, it is the same way as abusing ourselves. Let us all help the Mother Nature to regain its beauty in our own little ways. Simple things like turning off the lights and appliances when not in used or using a water scoop in bathing could help in conserving our energy plus we could save money. We are now experiencing global warming because of so much pollution in our planet. Let’s do something about it. Let’s go green, and live a healthy simple lifestyle. Let’s do it now, while there is still safe water to drink, and free fresh air to breath. What if in the future all forests are diminished, what will happen to us? Maybe we will be flushed away by flood. It is better to do one simple thing that could help in preserving our nature done to do nothing!
