6)      The Fort

Andres Bonifacio didn’t seem like a party person unless some historian could show me any proof that he hung out a lot during the Spanish era. Still, the Fort, as in Fort Bonifacio, is one of the best places to go to in any given night. In the early 90s, the Fort was already a gimik hot spot but then lost out to a lot of other sites that have cropped up around the metro. It wasn’t until the middle part of this decade that they came out guns blazing again.

The Embassy has become the club to be in with a lot of local celebrities flocking the popular club. Entrance fee is a tad pricey but its well worth the moolah since the same turns off the lower class of the social strata.

What makes the Fort extremely popular these days however is the Bonifacio High Street and its adjoining restaurant areas. This swanky gimik spot offers restaurants that aren’t readily found in any other place in the country. They have bookstores, coffeeshops, restaurants and playgrounds even that attract almost any type of crowd. Some restaurants are perfect for dates while others were built specifically for families and others are places where you and your friends can hang out. They also have a multitude of high end stores so the women can shop their heart out.

7)      Metrowalk/ Home Depot Ortigas

These are basically two separate areas but are within less than a minute from one another. Metrowalk has become the top destination for the yuppie crowd who works in the business district of Ortigas Center. This sprawling complex is a perfect gimik spot for people who just got off work or those who have a bit of a more relaxed atmosphere than Greenbelt or Bonifacio High street. The vibe of the entire complex is more of stress relief and good hard –earned fun so to speak. The biggest draw of Metrowalk is the Metro Poker Club located at the rear of the complex. There, you can play poker 24/7 with your friends or alone and you will probably find several celebrities and international poker legends play a few rounds of Texas Hold’em. I have played here on occasion and one can definitely feel the excitement when one plays here.

Home Depot is more of a food trip with the “dampa” area set up at the corner which allows you to buy fresh raw food and have it cooked the way you want it. There are other smaller resto bars in the area and even in the adjoining complex and this makes the entire vicinity a premiere gimik location for people who want some stress relief. The parking here is free which I myself appreciate a lot. I have been here on several occasions and you really feel how nice the atmosphere is in this complex. It is airy and not cramped at all and you could even take long walks around the complex if that’s your thing.
