Found in 408 kilometers northwest from Manila, Vigan lies in its legacy as a place that will make you feel connected to some other place and time. It’s just a small city in Ilocos but it has its small wonders that make you think of how things were during those days like a time warp waiting to happen.

This small Spanish colonial city is small enough for you to walk in, around and about. Well preserved with old sculptures of human formation, fountains at the middle of the park, the ambiance of old houses and old stores across the classic streets with carriage wheeled bench seats on the sidewalks for tired walkers to rest in.

Small museums of artifacts and pre historic items that tell of Vigan’s stories unfold. Old churches on the hill top with the view of the bluish sky. A high bricked tower where the old bell rang, clinging on every person in the little Vigan land.

Horses with carriages roaming around the city and you’ll find yourself riding one to tour you around Vigan, and discover that it is what they say it is…”A place like no other”.

Perch the part where they make the pottery. Its with such art in that place that you can pay for around 20 bucks to ask a man to demonstrate pot making like what you saw in the movie “Ghost” where Demi Moore starred in with the background sound of unchained melody, but then again in Vigan, the man is not actually fit for that romantic zone but boy can he make good pots out of mud and that alone will be amazement enough.

Vigan is a place where you can take a walk in the afternoon with less than 50 pesos in your pocket but still have fun. Taste their famous Bibingka in less than 10 pesos a piece and that’s good for a snack already, or you can try to eat their empanada for less than 10 pesos each and drinks that cost less than 10 pesos as well.

The place is stylish in itself that its listed as one of UNESCO HERITAGE LIST. Vigan is currently in partnership with Spain that it has yet to unravel a better version in preservation.
