9) Belo Medical Center and Calayan Medical Group
If you desire to have something in your body surgically altered or “enhanced” the two names that you will immediately think about going to is Belo and Calayan. These two medical groups have been fighting over not only clients but also show business endorsers as well. It is very rare that you will not hear an acor, actress or a tv host thank Dr. Vicki Belo of BMC or Dr. Manny or Pie Calayan of CMG whenthey are given a chance to thank somebody on air. To them, the surgeons are practically family.
While they are mostly civil to one another, there have been times when one is mentioned in not so good a light by the other. Recently, Dra. Vicki Belo said to reporters that if you want to look like a hunk, go to her Medical group but if one wants to look like a not-so-handsome showbiz host, they should go to the Calayan’s.
For someone who works with plastic, they surely can be brutally frank.
10) Iglesia ni Cristo vs. Ang Dating Daan
Who said that rivalries and fights are outside the realm of modern religion? These two religious groups are probably the most fiery when it comes to calling each other out. Iglesia ni Kristo (Church of Christ) was founded in 1914 for Felix Y. Manalo while And Dating Daan was put up fairly recently by Eli Soriano. These two camps have been each other’s throats in almost everything the other does. Ang Dating Daan (The Former Way) has been especially brutal in their criticism of the teachings of Iglesia ni Kristo and recently, the followers of Iglesia ni Kristo have begun to fire back with as much vile against Soriano and And Dating Daan. I guess it’s the case of The Golden Rule gone haywire.
How do I know this? Well it just so happens that each group has so much money so as to be able to produce their own television shows. Each group has special programs showing practically daily just lambasting the other religious group’s interpretation of biblical passages and teachings (Just to show you how openly they are trying to discredit the other, Iglesia ni Cristo’s show is entitled “Ang Tamang Daan” or The Right Way). Each has upped the ante by having people who were former followers of the other religious group host the program and tell stories about this awful experiences when they were in the other group.
The rivalry between these two religious organizations has not let up and it looks like they are getting bigger and bigger. It is fairly difficult to think that it will end any time soon. Truth be told, the shows are absolutely entertaining and engaging especially if you are not part of each group. I can only wish that they put a member of each group in the new Big Brother show and it would simply be awesome.
