Above: Twin Mountain that is made up of Mt Banahaw & Mt. Cristobal.
When one would say twins, it wouldn’t necessarily mean a replica of each other. It may have some characteristics pertaining to similarities and the likes, but Twins don’t necessarily mean both are good or both are evil. In ancient stories, while People have two personas like the good and bad in them as compared to Yin Yang, twins are two persons with split personas, one got hold more of the good while the other got more hold of the bad, and this is what contrasts these mountains… the good and evil in them.
It sounds ironic, when you hear that Mt. Banahaw is an inactive volcano yet it plays the role of a Holy Mountain having the good side amongst the twin.
When you reach the environment that flourishes Mt. Banahaw, you’ll feel enchanted and sense the vibe of mystique and splendor. Mt. Banahaw is called the HOLY MOUNTAIN where several Churches were built and it is the holy ground and home of devotes, patrons, pilgrims and the likes. Where are the temples stand in beauty making you want you take your camera out, and yet cameras are not allowed inside their churches. The floors are tiled in clean white tiles that one would have to take their shoes off before they enter. Discipline is observed in these places to preserve and respect its atmosphere of holiness.
In its own irony, Mt. Cristobal having the root name “Cristo” in its name is surprisingly called “The Devil’s Mountain”.
A mountain having a ‘W’ shaped summit may seem interesting to climb for a far, but the aura that has been experienced by a couple of climbers will linger in ones curiosity all the more. One would encounter thorny plants along its path and ferns on the side at wide spread of its craters this mountain sends out an eerie feel for climbers who dared experience. Hearing voices, strange noises amidst the natural sounds that cultivate this mountain while unexplained elements that show up in day light and at night. It conquers its own boundaries and evil in itself. One of the most common apparitions that has been shared by hundreds of climber’s experience would be the creature that is called “Tuamao”. Most climbers even wear amulets or “anting-anting” to counterpart the negative aura of this mountain.
