Bukidnon is a highland eden located in the Northern Mindanao region. It has a total of 464 barangays distributed among 21 municipalities and one city, the Malaybalay City, which is its capital.

Bukidnon is in the heartland of Mindanao, which links Davao to the South and Misamis Oriental to the North. It occupies the sweeping plateau that is bounded on the North and the Northeast by Misamis Oriental; on the East by Agusan; on the South and Southeast by Davad; and on the Southwest and West by Lanao and Cotabato.

Bukidnon is known as the watershed of Mindanao. It is embellished with six major river systems, the Pulangi, Tagoloan, Cagayan, Manupali, and Bobonawan Rivers. These rivers carved the landscape of the province creating numerous canyons.

It has two important landmarks: the Mt. Kitanglad and Pulangi River. Mt. Kitanglad is 2,955 meters above sea level, while Pulangi River traverses through the northeastern and southern part of the province towards the Rio Grande of Mindanao.

It has different dialects brought by the colonization of lowlanders that comes from the different islands of the archipelago. 77.9% of the population in this province speaks Cebuano. 8.9% speaks Binukid. And 0.05% speaks English.

It is considerably cool and moist throughout the year. There are two types of climate variations in this province: the northern part has no pronounced maximum rain period, with a short dry season which lasts only for one to three months, while the southern part has no dry season and at the same time has no pronounced maximum rain period.

Filipinos considered Bukidnon as to be the food basket of Mindanao. It is the major producer of the rice and corn in the region. And It is a home to the world’s biggest pineapple plantation in the world, boasting a standard golf course back 1928.

According to the Department of Tourism, Bukidnon is considered the Pineapple Capital of the World. In fact, Bukidnon is an agricultural economy. It produces rice, maize, sugar, coffee, rubber, tomato, flowers, cassava, pineapple, and other fruits and vegetables. It is also a major producer of chickens, hogs and cattle.

Among its major firms, Del Monte Philippines, Inc. (DMPI), Lapanday Diversified Products Corp. and Mt. Kitanglad Agri-Development Corp. are engaged in pineapple production, while Dole Philippines (Skyland) and Mt. Kitanglad Agri-Ventures, Inc. are into banana production. DMPI is also engaged in cattle fattening. Bukidnon Sugar Milling Corporation (BUSCO) and Crystal Sugar Milling are into sugar milling and refining.
